As the academic school year comes to a close, Jackson Arts and Technology Academy, a charter school in Jackson, MI., would like to invite parents to enroll their children in the school for the 2010-2011 school year.

Enrollment is now open to all students residing in the respective school district. Jackson Arts and Technology Academy can accommodate students entering into kindergarten to 7th grade. It is imperative that parents submit enrollment applications for each student planning to enroll, as early as possible.

Jackson Arts and Technology Academy implements a thematic, interactive program that incorporates multiple learning styles. Mornings are dedicated to building solid skills in the core subject areas of reading, writing, math and science. While the afternoons are reserved for foreign language, music, physical education and a daily 90-minute block of Jackson Arts and Technology Academy’s Paragon curriculum.

The Paragon curriculum is interdisciplinary, engaging, discovery-based and multi-cultural. The hands-on approach of Paragon addresses the multiple intelligences and individual learning styles. This enhances students’ communication skills, analysis and self-expression.

Jackson Arts and Technology Academy also offers an emotionally and physically safe learning environment, access to computers and technology, committed and qualified teachers and staff and encourage parental involvement.
Mrs. Williams stated that she was looking forward to “the opportunity to provide strategies for growth, progress and improvement for children and adults.”

She comes to JATA from the AIMS-West Village Academy in Detroit where she most recently served as the Principal/Campus Director. Prior to that assignment she worked as a family services worker/counselor for Magnum Educational Management, grades K-8.

She also brings with her two years of experience as an elementary teacher for Detroit Public Schools, and work with the NITT Foundation in Tulsa, OK.

In April, the Board of Directors, parents, and staff members participated in interviews. Following prioritizing by those present, Mosaica Education President Gene Eidelman conducted final interviews and recommended Williams for appointment.

Yates stated “Mosaica Education is pleased to have Mrs. Williams in this role and feel confident that she will provide the leadership and opportunities for children to excel.”

Yates went on to extend her appreciation to Dr. Stan Bushouse for his willingness to serve the school, the staff and students in the absence of a full-time principal this past semester.
